Mt. Fuji and Sakura, finally mounted in our home

Three years ago, Lhiza and I moved into our home.

We got the keys to our place Saturday. I was in Cebu back then, and it was Lhiza with my family who did the final checks. We visited our place Monday evening and convinced ourselves we had to move in as soon as possible — traffic was really bad back then, and being close to work would be such a relief.

My parents drove us to our place at 5 in the morning the next day. We unloaded a mattress, and had enough clothes to last us for the week. We managed to sneak in an hour or two of additional sleep, woke up ourselves for real with a cold shower, and figured out how to get to work from our place.

We slowly made our place our home, putting back our house warming celebration until we got things right enough to have visitors. 2015 passed by and we got married. 2016 too as it was quite a busy year. 2017 had June 24 on a Saturday — perfect for our needs. We hit the date with our house blessing exactly three years since moving in. We then had a smaller house warming party with close friends the next day (today).

Mission accomplished! We couldn’t have done it without the help of family and friends. From removing 60% of our stuff to make room, to selecting furniture and other stuff, to my family for the continuous home improvement initiatives such as our closet and (awesome) book shelf, and to everyone who took the time to be with us on our new milestone.

Tonight, I look back at our first night here in our home. I had to get a floor electric fan to keep us cool, and we had to cover the windows of our bedroom with paper for a little bit of privacy. I stared into the lights from the neighboring buildings as I thought of what transpired: it was a crazy, crazy 24 hours, and I was with the woman crazy enough to stay with me and more.

I loved Lhiza even more that night ❤️️
